My Skin Story: Why I Started Skin PharmAssist

My Skin Story: Why I Started Skin PharmAssist

For as long as I can remember, my skin was a source of stress, embarrassment, and frustration. As a child and teenager, my skin was often dry, scaly, and inflamed from eczema. It wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was something other people noticed and commented on.

Kids can be brutally honest, and sometimes cruel. I experienced teasing and bullying because of how my skin looked. At an age when you’re already trying to figure out who you are, having something so visible and hard to control made it even harder.

My family and I did everything we could to find answers. We visited multiple doctors and allergists, trying to understand what was happening with my skin. Most of the treatments I was given were steroid creams, which helped temporarily but never truly solved the problem.

The relief never lasted.

My eczema would improve for a short time, only to flare again.

At home, life was busy. My mother worked long night shifts and slept during much of the day, doing everything she could to support our family. Because of that schedule, managing my skin condition consistently was difficult. Like many families dealing with chronic skin conditions, we were doing the best we could with the information we had.

But the truth is, we didn’t have the tools, guidance, or clear understanding of what was actually triggering my skin.

As I got older, I started trying anything that might help. So many products, routines, and remedies that at one point my then-fiancé jokingly compared me to a guinea pig experimenting on myself. And in many ways, that’s exactly what it felt like. There was so much conflicting advice, so many products promising miracles, and very little clear information about what actually worked for sensitive, eczema-prone skin.

Everything began to change when I started learning more deeply about skin health, allergies, inflammation, and stress triggers. Through better understanding my body, managing allergies more consistently, and reducing stress triggers, I finally began to see something I had struggled with for years:

Real improvement.

My skin didn’t just temporarily calm down—it started to truly heal.

That journey eventually led me into healthcare and pharmacy, where I gained the scientific knowledge I wish I had access to when I was younger. I also realized something important:

  • People struggling with eczema, acne, and sensitive skin often don’t need more products. They need clear, trustworthy guidance.

That realization is what inspired me to create SkinPharmAssist.

SkinPharmAssist exists to provide straightforward, evidence-based skincare guidance from a pharmacist who has personally lived through the struggle of difficult skin.

My goal is to help people:

  • Simplify their skincare routines
  • Understand what actually triggers their skin conditions
  • Find products and treatments that truly support skin health
  • Avoid wasting money on trends that don’t work

Because I know firsthand how frustrating it feels to struggle with your skin and not have clear answers.

Looking ahead, my vision for SkinPharmAssist is to continue developing education, tools, and treatments designed to truly support skin healing—especially for people dealing with eczema, acne, and sensitive skin.

No one should have to feel alone or confused while trying to care for their skin.

And no one should have to feel ashamed of it.
